Uninsured motorists will have their vehicles towed if they are stopped for traffic violations in Dallas City. The City Council members agreed that the uninsured place burdens on insured drivers because they give additional problems whenever they are involved in a road accident. Linda Koop, District 11 council member and chairwoman of the council’s transportation and environment committee, said that driving is a privilege and that there would be added responsibilities on the road to ensure safety. A database would be used to determine whether a motorist is uninsured or just forgot his or her proof of identification. However this ordinance won’t go into effect until Jan. 1, 2009.
